英語の練習

久々に英語の練習をしてみる

テーマは「クリエイティブ」「クリエーター」という言葉の使い方、主に日本での使われ方について

I do not like people who call themselves "creator."

In my opinion, words which stems from "create" is different from those from "make" in that "creation" is the work of the God; making is the work of human.

As we know, "the Creator" means the God; there is a frequently used word "man-made."

The difference of meaning between the 2 words is whether making something from nothing or something.

Strictly speaking, creation has to be making things from nothing.
The God says"Let there be light" and light appears.
The God makes light from nothing. That is the "Creation".
Otherwise, making does not need this strict condition.

Therefore, all humans can be makers but can not be creators.
All humans need something stocked in the past when they make things.
Even the great Steve Jobs, who "was" the one of the most creative person in the present world, had not been able to "create" iPod without idea of music.

As far as I know, works of Japanese people calling themselves creator is not so much.
(I do not know much cases of other countries so I just write about Japanese case.)
Rather, I feel that those who did really good jobs do not call themselves creator.

At last

To all "creators."

Re-evaluate yourself & your job and have second thought if you can call yourself creator !!!
